Social Events and Activities

Here is a list of some of TCS’s annual school events that you and your family will not want to miss!

"Sneak-a-Peek” Open House
(September 3, 2010: Toddler - Preschool at 11:00am, PreK - 3rd Grade at 1:00pm)
Nothing helps get children ready to go back to school like a visit to their new classroom. Come “sneak-a-peek” at your child’s new class, visit with your child’s teacher, and meet your child’s classmates at this end-of-summer opportunity.

Back to School Night 
(September 14, 2010: Toddler - Preschool at 5:30pm and
September 15, 2010: Prekindergarten - 4th Grade at 5:30pm)
New and returning parents are invited to a brief program by their children’s teacher(s) that covers the goals and highlights of their child’s upcoming school year. This event is for parents only and is an ideal time to ask questions to your children’s teachers about their curriculum, classroom schedules and routines.  Kids' Club available by request.  Please email activities@tcslj.org.

Annual Pizza Social (September 24, 2010: 5pm-7pm)
This fall event is a chance to connect with other TCS families over a school-wide pizza dinner. Held on the campus blacktop.

Fall Festival (October 17, 2010)
Beware: This one-day event is a must for all TCS families and friends. The school is transformed into a Halloween festival with classroom-run games and booths, jumpies, a haunted house, a farmer’s market and craft fair, a book walk, face painting, a hay maze and fair food. Each classroom sponsors a booth at this school-wide event. Children (and some adults!) come dressed in costume. This event is open to the public so bring your family and friends.

The Book Works Holiday Event (December 5, 2010)
Plan to stop by The BookWorks in Flower Hill Mall in Del Mar for an evening of browsing amidst a wonderful array of stationery, gifts and books for all ages and interests. The BookWorks will donate 20% of the night’s proceeds to the TCS PA!

Sock-Hop & Ice Cream Social (February 11, 2011)
TCS Preschool - 5th Grade students flash back to the 1950s as they dance in period apparel for this wintertime-favorite event. While a DJ spins records, parents hand out ice cream floats.  No wonder this event is one of the students’ favorites!

READ/ TCS Student Pajama Day and Pancake Lunch
(March 2, 2010: 11am - 1pm)
Preschoolers through 8th graders are treated to a pancake lunch in conjunction with Pajama Day and Drop Everything and Read Day.

 
Great Artists Grande Finale
This evening art exhibit on campus is the culmination of extensive study of selected artists by TCS toddlers through 8th grade students. This is your opportunity to admire their work as you stroll through the classrooms, enjoy hors ‘d oeuvres and marvel at the school's magical transformation.

Teacher Appreciation
Joins us as we thank our wonderful teachers and administrative staff for all they do with various events and activities during the week.

Fun Night
This is one of our school’s two major fund raising events. The evening includes a dinner dance and auction featuring items created by our own TCS children as well as items donated by parents, local businesses and other school supporters. Fun Night is also a great way to get involved in the school -- the evening is successful because of the hard work of our many volunteers.

Spring Sing
Relatives and friends of Preschool and Prek - 5th Grade students fill the TCS auditorium to hear the students sing their favorite songs. An informal reception follows.

Fun Run (May 27, 2011)
Come cheer on our students as they run laps to raise money for our physical education program and playground equipment.
