Welcome to The Children’s School, a pioneer in progressive education since 1972. TCS is proud of its history of graduating confident, self-motivated students who are prepared both academically and socially to succeed at the area’s top high schools.

Admission to The Children’s School is based on many factors, including a child’s intellectual and social development and his or her parents’ overall commitment to the educational philosophy and well being of the school. The Children’s School welcomes families from all backgrounds and seeks a student body that reflects the diversity of San Diego. We encourage student applicants with a variety of interests, learning styles, personalities and talents.

We invite you to explore our programs to see what makes a TCS education unique. While we have tried to capture the spirit, depth and breadth of The Children’s School here, there is no substitute for the real thing. We encourage you to visit our six-acre campus in La Jolla to experience our school’s magic for yourself.

Note: We are accepting applications for a few spots that remain in some of our classes for the 2010-11 school year.

Open Houses
Open houses are an opportunity for prospective families to meet the admissions staff and tour our classrooms. Applicants will learn more about our students, curriculum and admissions process.

Open houses are scheduled on the following days and times:

• Tuesday, November 9,  2010 at 6:00 p.m.
  for prospective families going in to toddler through fourth grade

• Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 9:00 a.m.
  for prospective families going in to toddler through fourth grade

• Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 9:00 a.m.
  for prospective families going in to toddler through fourth grade
  
  
• Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 9:00a.m.
  for prospective families going in to toddler through fourth grade

Tours

Tours are intended primarily for those families and individuals unable to attend an open house.

• Tours of our toddler, preschool and prekindergarten classrooms take place in the fall on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9, 10 and 11 a.m.
• Tours of our elementary and middle years programs take place in the fall in the morning.
