Open Houses & Tours

Note: We are accepting applications for a few spots that remain in some of our classes for the 2010-11 school year.

The admission process at The Children's School begins with opportunities for you to visit us and find out more about what we do and what we have to offer. Our open houses are information sessions designed for groups of prospective families. During the open house, which lasts about two hours, you will have a chance to hear from school administrators, tour the classrooms and find out more about the students, curriculum and admission process at TCS.

Tours

Our tours are designed for those prospective parents who cannot attend an open house. Tours provide the opportunity to gather valuable information about TCS. Parents can experience our unique academic environment and ask questions about our program prior to submitting an application for admission. For the Nelson Middle Year Program, we offer private tours for sixth, seventh and eighth grade prospective families on Monday and wednesday mornings.

Assessments

While there is no formal testing during the admission process, assessments are performed, usually during a visit to the class of the prospective student’s current grade.  Because The Children's School believes in educating the whole child, teachers are assessing social interaction as well as cognitive, physical and behavioral development. Group assessments are held for applicants to our kindergarten program.
