The Great Artists Program, which is unique to TCS, encourages children from toddler age through sixth grade to develop an appreciation of art as they study specific artists’ styles and explore a variety of art mediums. During this program, students work through an integrated curriculum consisting of developmentally-appropriate activities in language arts, math, science and social studies in addition to learning to emulate each artists’ particular style. Students also study the culture and time period in which the artist lived and worked.

Art and music are critically important components of a well-balanced education. Research has shown that elementary students who attended schools in which the arts were integrated with classroom curriculum consistently outperformed their peers in math who did not have an arts-integrated curriculum. Sixth grade students who attended schools in which the arts were integrated with classroom curriculum outperformed their peers in reading who did not have an arts-integrated curriculum.

In honor of our ten year anniversary, students learned about and celebrated art throughout the entire school year through an exciting program called Artists in Action. This art series celebrates art and offers our students the opportunity to learn more about local area artists, musicians and poets.

The Great Artists Grande Finale Gala, which celebrates the culmination of the program, is an evening that never fails to delight and surprise as the classrooms are transformed into creative art museums showcasing the children's artistic endeavors and the depth of learning that the program encourages. The school invites the public to discover how great works of art from masters can inspire a true appreciation of the fine arts in children.
